Twin Peakes Fly Fishing × Spartan Precision Equipment
Helping to Design a Rod Rack We Actually Wanted to Use
Here at Twin Peakes Fly Fishing, we’re really excited to finally share a project we’ve been involved in over the past few years. Working alongside the incredibly talented team at Spartan Precision Equipment, we’ve helped design and refine their latest rod rack and it’s been built to solve the exact frustrations we’ve all had as anglers.
When we first started looking at rod racks, we did what every fisherman does: took stock of what was already on the market… and found plenty to niggle about.
Untrustworthy suction mounts that never inspired confidence.
Magnetic systems that are solid, but scratch paintwork and can even change paint colour if left on for long periods.
The constant compromise between carrying up to 10 rods on some days, and just a couple on others.
And then there’s travelling — bulky, awkward racks that eat up unnecessary packing space and add weight where you don’t want it.
Some brands, like Sumo, have led the way when it comes to accommodating different bonnet shapes, but still rely on a flimsy centre vertical post and the classic T-grip design. When loading valuable rods and reels, we wanted something that felt a lot more solid and confidence-inspiring.
So we decided to help build it.
Enter the Spartan Precision Rod Rack
From day one, the goal was simple: design a rod rack we’d genuinely trust with our own gear. Every feature was questioned, tested, and refined with real-world fishing in mind.
Pump-action suction cups
Spartansourced the most reliable suction cups we could find and designed the system with two points of contact per rack. By pumping the air out, the white markers clearly show if they need topping up between pools. Integrated safety lines give instant visual confirmation if pressure is ever lost — no guesswork, no anxiety.
Paintwork-safe mounting
No magnets. No clamps. No drilling. And crucially — no damage to your vehicle.
High bonnet rack
We started at the bonnet and worked backwards, measuring against the largest arbour reels on the market. The result keeps reels well clear of your paintwork, even on bigger setups.
Low roof rack
There’s nothing worse than struggling to reach a roof rack — or worse, ruining your paint by standing on the passenger footwell and leaning across the car. We lowered the upper rack to give easier access and reduced the rod pitch to help avoid low-hanging branches when driving between beats.
30° adjustable ends
Designed to accommodate virtually all bonnet and vehicle shapes, without compromising strength.
Expandable capacity
Run it as a neat 4-rod rack, or extend it to carry up to 10 rods when you need the full setup.
Carbon fibre construction
Exceptionally strong, impressively lightweight, and built to handle serious use.
Travel-ready design
Fully collapsible, making it easy to pack, transport, and live with on longer trips.
Protective carry case included
Ideal for keeping everything protected during the winter months or between trips.
Thoughtful extras
Additional foam and reusable tie wraps are included for added security when running the rack fully extended.
Built by Anglers, Tested on the Road
This rod rack wasn’t designed in isolation. It’s been tested over three years, through multiple prototypes, on real fishing trips — loading, unloading, driving, guiding, and travelling exactly the way we all do.
For us at Twin Peakes Fly Fishing, being part of this project has been hugely rewarding. The Spartan Precision Rod Rack solves the everyday problems we’ve all quietly accepted for too long — and it does so with proper engineering, smart design, and real attention to detail.
If you’re looking for a travel-friendly rod rack you can genuinely trust, this is one that’s been built by people who actually use it.
