Celebrating the 1st Birthday of Women in Waders at Loch Insch Fishery
What a fantastic day we had celebrating the first birthday of the Women in Waders ladies fishing group! To mark this special occasion, we hosted a memorable trout fishing event at Loch Insch Fishery. It was a day filled with laughter, learning, and a shared passion for the outdoors. Here’s a full recap of our day along with some fantastic photos that capture all the fun!
Loch Insch Fishery
Loch Insch Fishery welcomed us with stunning views and calm weather, which was perfect for a day of fishing. The natural beauty of Aberdeenshire’s landscapes served as the ideal backdrop for our event, and everyone was excited to get started. Spirits were high, and the buzz of excitement was contagious as friends old and new gathered to celebrate.
The Group Spirit
Our community is unique, with women of all ages and skill levels—some who’ve just begun their fly-fishing journey and others who have years of experience. It was wonderful to see everyone supporting and cheering each other on, sharing tips, tricks, and a lot of laughs. This spirit of mentorship and camaraderie is what makes Women in Waders so special.
Learning and Perfecting Techniques
Our guides frm TwinPeakes were on hand to offer guidance, from the basics of casting for beginners to more advanced techniques for seasoned anglers. They provided one-on-one attention, making sure everyone could pick up new skills and try something different. It’s amazing to see how much our members have grown in confidence and skill.
Active Trout and Varied Techniques
The trout were active, making the day even more thrilling! Members tried a range of techniques, from stalking the margins with bugs, sight fishing with dry flies, and even the washing line technique. Every catch brought cheers and smiles, and we captured many memorable moments as members reeled in their trout with pride.
Good Food and Great Company
No event is complete without delicious food! A big thank you to Louise’s Farm Kitchen for providing us with fantastic local sausages and burgers, which made our lunch break a highlight of the day. Sharing a meal together, chatting about the day’s catches, and simply enjoying each other’s company created a real sense of community.
Generous Goodie Bags and Sponsors
To make this event extra special, we prepared goodie bags filled with treats, thanks to our generous sponsors. A huge shoutout to The Strong Water Company, Thistle & Clay, Foxy Pheasant, Blaine Lyon, and Loch Insch Fishery for their thoughtful contributions. Each bag was filled with gifts that added a personal touch to our celebration.
Reflecting on a Wonderful Year
As the day wound down, we took a moment to reflect on the year that brought us together. From our early beginnings to the strong community we’ve become, Women in Waders has created a space for women to connect over a shared passion for fishing, nature, and friendship. This event was a celebration of that journey, and we’re so grateful to everyone who joined us.
Looking to the Future
Our first birthday celebration was a reminder of the potential ahead. We’re already planning more events for the coming year and can’t wait to see what new friendships, skills, and memories await. If you’re interested in joining, love the outdoors, and want to try fly fishing, reach out and join us! info@twinpeakesflyfishing.com We’re fortunate to be in the heart of Aberdeenshire with endless fishing opportunities and can’t wait to welcome new members.
