Herring Blue - Spey Tail - Tube Fly
Introducing the Spey Tail Salmon fly range.
A meticulously crafted fusion of two iconic spring salmon fly styles, designed by renowned fly-tyer Stuart Foxall, the Spey Tail combines elements of his two favourite spring salmon fly styles- the Monkey and the traditional bucktail tube.
The bucktail performs well in faster flows where the fibres vibrate enticingly. The mobile Monkey style wing is slim, slinky and slender, perfect for tempting fish in slower flows. Atlantic Salmon find this enticing combination of styles totally irresistible.
A marriage made in heaven? We think so and have selected a range of colour schemes to suite all tastes and condition on Scotland's famous spring rivers such as the Dee, Spey, Tay and Tweed. The Spey Tail travels well and has proved itself in early season in Norway and Sweden.
The Herring Blue Spey tails looks fantastic in the water, it makes a great spring and summer fly especially in really clear rivers. We use this a lot in the spring on the Dee, especially when the river is running on snow melt, the blue seems to work well then. We have also enjoyed great sport with big June fish in Norway.
