LOOP Ström Series - Double Hand Rods
LOOP Ström Double Handed Fly Rod Series
Smooth power. Precise tracking. Natural flow.
Ström — meaning current, the flow of water or energy — is a fitting name for LOOP’s latest generation of high-performance double handed fly rods. The LOOP Ström Double Handed Series is built around one simple principle: transferring energy smoothly, efficiently and without compromise.
Drawing on more than four decades of LOOP rod design and Spey casting innovation, Ström takes the distinctive heptagonal (7-sided) blank construction first introduced in the iconic LOOP 7X and refines it further. Using the highest-grade, highly refined M40X carbon construction, the result is a double handed rod that is lighter, stronger and exceptionally responsive.
The heptagonal blank profile provides outstanding stability through the casting stroke, helping the rod recover quickly and track accurately. For the Spey caster, this translates into a rod that loads progressively, transfers energy efficiently and produces tight, controlled loops without the need to overpower the cast.
Whether forming a clean D-loop with a floating line, turning over a sink tip or carrying a larger fly in challenging conditions, the LOOP Ström Double Handed range delivers smooth, dependable performance with an exceptionally connected feel.
Every component has been selected to complement the performance of the blank. A premium Flor-grade cork handle provides comfort and sensitivity, while the custom carbon reel seat keeps unnecessary weight to a minimum. REC Cerecoil stripping guides provide lightweight, low-friction line management and premium durability.
Available in 13' #7, 13'2" #8 and 14' #9, the Ström Double Handed range covers everything from lighter, more technical salmon fishing through to powerful fishing on larger rivers and in demanding conditions.
LOOP Ström Double Handed Models
13' #7
The lightest rod in the Ström double handed range. A beautifully balanced option for smaller and medium-sized rivers, summer fishing and situations where presentation and feel are more important than outright power. Light in the hand and responsive through the casting stroke, it is an excellent choice for anglers looking for a refined, agile salmon rod.
13'2" #8
The versatile all-rounder of the Ström range. The 13'2" #8 offers an excellent balance of feel, line control and power, making it ideally suited to a broad range of salmon fishing situations. From floating and intermediate lines to heavier tips and flies, this is a rod designed to cover a season's fishing with confidence.
14' #9
The most powerful rod in the Ström Double Handed family. At 14', the #9 provides additional leverage, line control and authority when fishing larger rivers, heavier lines, sink tips and bigger flies. Despite the additional power, the refined M40X construction retains the smooth loading and connected feel that defines the Ström series.

The Flow of Energy
Good Spey casting is about efficient energy transfer. The anchor is set, the D-loop forms, the rod loads and that stored energy flows through the line towards the target.
That principle sits at the heart of LOOP Ström.
From the responsive 13' #7 to the commanding 14' #9, the LOOP Ström Double Handed Fly Rod Series combines modern materials, innovative heptagonal blank construction and decades of LOOP rod-building experience to create salmon rods that feel smooth, precise and naturally connected.
Ström — let the rod do the work and the energy flow.
