The Black Sheep is a classic clear water pattern from Iceland. It has a little something for everyone: Blue, black, yellow and silver. It hails from Iceland and is commonly accepted that is was devised by Icelandic guide, Halli Stefánsson in the 1970s and named by Joe Hubert of Minnesota, USA. At that time most salmon flies were variants of the old British classics and Halli's fly looked like the 'black sheep of the family.'
It is a long wing fly intended to replicate the eel larvae which are part of the salmon's ocean diet. We like this tube on a fresh spring day with clear water and fresh springers!
