Join us for an adventure,

Get  off grid without mobile phone reception and in one of Scotland’s last true wilderness. Experience the majestic remote hills of the Cairngorm National Park, with red Grouse, Stags and Eagles all around while you try you hand at fly fly fishing for Brown Trout on this exclusive experience.

The lochs are quite nutrient rich and can offer dry fly sport throughout the season. Multiple weed beds host lots of food and an accurate cast into the margins will often result in explosive takes.  Drift from our traditional highland boat on the largest of the lochs and access remote spots where the trout like to lie undisturbed.

CORNDAVON LODGE

Enhance your experience by booking exclusive use of Corndavon Lodge to your day.

Exclusive use for the day - £540 inc vat

Corndavon is a historic shooting lodge, built in 1827 and used by the Royal Family for stalking or grouse shooting parties.  There is a famous Muriel inside that was originally painted in 1968 by Major Philip Erskine at the request of Queen Elisabeth (Queen Mother). In 1998 the lodge was broken into and vandalised and was repainted by Major Erskine over 40 years later.  The Lodge is fully stocked with firewood, tables and chairs and lots of candles. There is a composting toilet and offers a cosy retreat to enjoy a glass of wine, or whisky next to the fire.

Trout Fishing Techniques

Beginner or seasoned angler we will always begin the day with a casting lesson outside of Corndavon Lodge, here we can fine tune our casting skills on the grass without disturbing the water. Once we are happy our guides will take you out onto the water where a stealthy approach will always offer the best results.

In the summer there is an abundance of fly life and we can often fish dry flies all day. If there is a good wind, pulling traditional wet flies across the waves can be extremely effective.  We will stalk along the margins targeting rising fish and our guests will always be provided with waders so we can wade a little further and cover all of the fish.  We can accommodate groups of up to 10 people offering a fun adventure for the whole group to enjoy.

Brown Trout - Salmo Trutta

Our native Scottish trout are an incredible quarry to pursue. They invariably populate some of the most picturesque streams and lochs  in the area. Quickly switching between hatches anglers need to be alert to ensure we are matching the hatch when they are looking up. The trout that we catch average around 1.5lb - 2lb and we are often catching trout into the 3lb / 4lb class.  Lunch is served out on the hill on the banks of the loch unless our guests have chosen to include Corndavon lodge in the booking.
